Common BMW Auto Repair Services We Offer

BMWs are the ultimate driving machine. However, even this luxury vehicle needs routine maintenance and fixes from a certified technician.

Here are some BMW repairs and auto services we offer

NOTE: Stay informed about BMW recalls to address manufacturing defects or potential fire risks. Visit the nearest BMW service center or check online to see if your car is affected.

What’s Included in BMW Inspection I and II?

BMWs typically require two types of inspections

During the first inspection, the mechanic focuses on components that experience the most wear and tear. The second inspection includes all the services from BMW “Inspection I” along with additional checks that thoroughly assess your car’s safety and performance.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of what each inspection entails for your European car, whether you own BMW 3 Series or M models (high-performance models):

A. BMW Inspection I

This inspection involves the following three categories of servicing for your BMW vehicle, followed by a road test:

  • Undercarriage evaluation: The mechanic performs a BMW oil change, oil filter replacement, brake inspection, tire inspection, and checks for leaks.
  • Engine repair and checks: They conduct fluid level checks and computer system checks with a diagnostic tool.
  • Body and electrical components analysis: The mechanic inspects the functionality of lights, door locks, airbags, batteries, door hinges, rearview mirrors, and seat belts.

When should you take this service?
You should schedule BMW Inspection I at least once a year.

B. BMW Inspection II

It covers all the checks performed under “Inspection I” and a few additional services, such as:

When should you take this service?
If you’re a BMW owner, remember these timelines while scheduling “Inspection II” for your vehicle:

  • Car manufactured in 1999 and later: Every 60,000 miles
  • Car manufactured between 1992 and 1998: Every 40,000 miles
  • Car manufactured in 1991 or earlier: Every 30,000 miles

NOTE: As per the BMW Ultimate Service guarantee, if you own a 2015 or 2016 BMW model, the BMW Maintenance Program covers the first four years or 50,000 miles. However, the model must be sold or leased by an authorized BMW center on or after July 1, 2014.

The BMW Maintenance Program includes all factory-recommended maintenance services, including brake pads, brake discs, and wiper blade inserts. Additionally, BMW offers protection products, like extended warranties and maintenance plans, to ensure your repairs are covered beyond the standard coverage.

What’s the Average BMW Maintenance Cost?

The average annual BMW maintenance cost (including BMW 3 Series, BMW M5 models, and others) is $970

A BMW model has a higher maintenance cost due to its performance-oriented engineering, advanced features, and specialized electrical components. Many of these parts require programming after replacement, which increases the overall cost.

However, the actual costs of BMW service depend on your car’s age, mileage, location, and the type of repair shop. Some BMW parts can be more expensive or difficult to source than other brands, further driving up costs.

TIP: Look for service parts specials and BMW-certified offers to order parts and get services at a discounted price.

6 Key Things to Look for in a BMW Auto Repair Shop

Follow this checklist to choose the right auto repair shop for your BMW maintenance:

  1. Mechanic expertise: Ensure the shop employs mechanics with many years of experience in handling luxury cars.
  2. Services provided: Look for a shop offering a wide range of quality services, from diagnostics to specialized repairs.
  3. Reviews: Check online reviews to gauge customer satisfaction and the BMW repair shop’s reputation.
  4. Warranty: Opt for a shop that provides a warranty on parts and labor.
  5. Advanced tools and tech: Choose a shop with modern tools and diagnostic equipment for precise and efficient repairs.
  6. Convenience: For hassle-free repairs, consider factors like location, operating hours, and additional services like pickup and drop-off. Additionally, check if they offer mobile repair services at your location to save you travel time.

What Should You Do Before a Visit to the BMW Repair Shop

Here’s how you should prep for a BMW service appointment:

  1. Keep all important papers, including insurance and protection products, like extended warranties, handy.
  2. Prepare any questions you want to ask the mechanic about the BMW repair service and charges.
  3. Remove any personal items from your car.
  4. Arrange transport for you or your BMW vehicle to and from the repair shop if needed.
  5. Confirm the appointment time and date with the car dealership or repair shop to avoid misunderstandings.
